Today, I want to pull back the curtain on a project that has been on my workbench for quite some time. It is a concept born directly from conversations with you — our customers — who have been asking for a specific kind of evolution in our gear.
We are talking about a holster that bridges the gap between the old-world comfort of leather and the modular security of modern carry systems.
The Problem: Comfort vs. Modularity
If you have been carrying for any length of time, you know the eternal struggle between leather and Kydex.
Traditional leather holsters are the gold standard for comfort. They breathe, they mold to your body over time, and they offer that silent, organic draw that plastic simply cannot match. However, they often fall short when it comes to modern attachment systems. You usually cannot easily mount a Tek-Lok or similar tactical belt attachment to a standard leather holster because leather, by nature, is flexible. Over time, screws can loosen, and the mounting point can stretch, compromising safety.
Kydex holsters, on the other hand, offer incredible modularity. You can snap them onto almost any belt system, vest, or pack. But let’s be honest: they can be rigid, uncomfortable against the skin for long periods, and they lack the “soul” of a handcrafted piece.
For a long time, you had to choose: Do you want the comfort of leather, or do you want the security of a modern attachment system?
The Solution: The Resurrection Tek-Lok OWB Leather Holster
I decided we shouldn’t have to choose.
I want to be clear about what this is — and what it isn’t. The Resurrection is not a Kydex shell with a thin layer of leather glued on top for aesthetics. This is a true leather holster, formed from premium full-grain steerhide for that custom-molded fit, silence, and comfort you expect from Fox Tree Creations.
The innovation lies in what you can’t see.
We have integrated a hidden Kydex reinforcement plate between the layers of leather, specifically designed to anchor the Tek-Lok hardware. This insert provides a rigid, steel-like foundation for the mounting screws — keeping everything locked tight without compromising the leather feel against the gun or your body. The result is a holster that carries like leather and mounts like a tactical system.

Finalizing the Prototype
We are currently in the final testing phase. I am wearing the prototype daily to ensure the edges hold up to real-world use and that the comfort level meets our standards. So far, it is proving to be ideal for OWB (Outside the Waistband) carry, range days, and outdoor use where you might want to quickly attach or detach your gear.
